Maison Libanaise- BEST Lebanese food in HK
We all know that it's no secret that there seems to be new restaurants constantly popping up in mid-levels. With hip tapas joints, packed pubs and endless people, this area is one of the most happenin and vibin places to eat and drink in Hong Kong- insert new and FABULOUS Lebanese resturant Maison Libanaise. Offering a take away menu on the ground floor with an incredible "Build Your Own" menu enabling you to stuff, top and sauce your wrap, rice pilaf or tabouleh exactly how you like it (think falafal, haloumi and chicken meets hummus, baba ganoush and LABNEH), along with a sit down restaurant on the first floor serving up a delightful spread of traditional mezze and main dishes. Oh, and did I mention the open air rooftop patio? #winning.
With simple and colorful decor, you will undoubtedly find the atmosphere to be laid back yet oh so chic. Not to mention the rooftop is delightfully laced with strings of lights setting the mood of a"barkyard bbq" whilst in the heart of Soho, but enough about the decor, what we really need to discuss is the FOOD.
Homemade Pita Bread and La Maison Labneh Yogurt Dip
Baked fresh daily in their wood stone oven this pita bread CANNOT be missed. These thin pitas are fresh, chewy and the perfect accompaniment for the many dishes to follow, not to mention absolutely delightful when dunked in this thick creamy spiced yogurt dip! This dip is down right dazzling and addictive! Spiced with the glorious za'atar, I guarantee you will be licking the bowl clean!
The combination of flavors in this dish is oh so lovely. The sweetness from the pomegranate seeds combined with the fragrant mint and roasted egg plant made this the perfect start to a fantastic meal!
Sauced in cucumber labneh, these falafel were spiced and cooked perfectly with a crispy outside and soft fluffy inside. Definitely one of the highlights of the night and not to be missed!
Okay so yeah, this was obviously amazing. Topped with dates and a honey glaze, it was perfectly sweet and salty (not to mention I could have eaten the whole slab on my own...). So for all you haloumi addicts... get here.
First off, I just LOVE how this was served! The whole cauliflower showing up at our table was unexpected and a definite wow! Not only was the presentation amazing, but the flavor was perfection. Perfectly spicy from the harissa (hot chili paste) yet tangy and refreshing with hints of lemon and lime zest.
Shish Taouk (aka chicken skewers)
Doused in a saffron, chili and mint sauce and grilled to perfection, these skewers were super tender and added good substance to our delightful Lebanese spread.
Pulled Lamb Shoulder
No knife necessary to eat this gorgeous dish! With tender meat perfectly spiced, topped with basturma and served with a creamy goat cheese sauce, you will be forking your way through this lovely lamb dish.
So Hong Kong, if you're looking for a hot new spot to check out, I promise you, Maison Lebanaise will not disappoint! Every dish we had was excellent not to mention all the more fabulous while sitting on the rooftop!
